Native Australian birds have been a passion of mine to paint and ‘Golden Kookaburra #1’ features our cheeky kookaburra against the golden Mallee sun. This artwork was part of the ‘Abloom’ solo exhibition held at the Mildura Arts Centre in 2024.

‘Inspired by the beauty and the calm of the familiar, Abloom explores personal connections to the Mallee through objects that elicit memories that are precious in each piece. Rhian captures and celebrates the gifts Sunraysia has on offer and is resoundingly known for, from locally produced gin and wine to citrus and pottery by artisans.’

This piece is created using gouache, ink and pen on Arches watercolour paper and measures 26cm x 18cm. This piece has been professionally framed in raw oak with a chalk coloured mat.

A certificate of authenticity is provided with original artworks.
